Post nuptial agreements
Post-nuptial Agreements are similar to Pre-nuptial Agreements but are less common. The primary difference is that the parties are already married or have entered into a Civil Partnership at the time of entering into the agreement.
Please read the section and the fact sheet regarding Pre-Nuptial Agreements as the advantages of such a document also apply to Post-nuptial Agreements, which can provide certainty and is a means of protecting pre-marriage assets, inheritance, and the interests of children from a previous marriage.
Such Agreements can deal with a variety of issues to include out how the assets of the marriage should be divided between the parties should there be a divorce. This can warn off disputes and save significant legal costs should a marriage breakdown.
