Commercial Solicitor

Location: Chippenham
Job Type: Full time, permanent
Salary: Competitive DOE


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Purpose:
To work within the Commercial Department managing a varied caseload which is split between Commercial and Commercial Property, with approximately 50% being Commercial Business work. The successful candidate will have the provision of excellent client service at the heart of what they do and develop business for the department through networking and marketing activities.  

Typical Activities: 
Responsibility for: - 

Fee Income for all aspects of Commercial  and Commercial Property work
• Identifying improvements and to plan innovatively for better service delivery
• Developing and maintaining strong & profitable client relationships, critical to the success of the department. Consistently high level of service delivery to meet client’s expectations.
• Supervising a two-year qualified solicitor who will also provide support on client files
Support with: -
• Raising the profile of ABD and enhancing the reputation of the Commercial department

ESSENTIAL AND DESIRABLE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:

• 3 years PQE
• Experience of Commercial Business law and some Commercial Property experience
• To have the ability to remain calm, polite and focused when dealing with different situations
• To have outstanding communication skills both verbal and written
• A high level of attention to detail
• The ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with all employees
• To enjoy a varied workload and working at pace
• The ability to make sound decisions, taking ownership when required.
• To present in a professional manner
• To be motivated, self-sufficient and to have excellent time management skills
• To demonstrate flexibility in approach
• To have excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages.
• Must have full UK driving license and own transport. 

Desirable:

People management experience or a willingness to develop skills in this area

• Identifying improvements and to plan innovatively for better service delivery

• Commitment to the Practice Management Standards of the Law Society together with Lexcel, IIP and the Legal Services Commission franchising specification and the understand them.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Purpose:
To work within the Conveyancing department providing administrative support and secretarial services.

Typical Activities:
Responsibility for: -

     • Dealing with all administrative duties relating to client transactions and secretarial requirements including but not limited to:

- Managing Fee Earner’s diary
- Preparing files for billing- Screening incoming calls
- Typing of correspondence, photocopying, filing sending faxes and opening new files
- Sorting and prioritising mail, emails and messages

  • Dealing with client’s matters where appropriate
    Supporting in all areas of work where appropriate
  • Provision of a reliable and efficient service to clients
  • Provision of a professional & friendly service to clients with the ability to recognise when clients may be going through a difficult process e.g. divorce or family transactions.
  • Preparation of straightforward legal documents
  • Commitment to the LEXCEL & Investors in People standards, the requirements of the Law Society and to understand them.
  • Being familiar with the basic requirements of the Solicitors Accounts Rules which affect the receipt and payment into the bank of cheques and the accounting of client’s monies.

 Support with: -

  • Liaison with clients and other parties to update and ensure awareness of transaction process at the appropriate times.  
  • Postal duties as required
  • To support with reception cover as required
